Club Background

Rotary Club of Chatham

Our club was chartered on May 26, 1978.  Presently we have 30 members, 26 active and 4 honorary.  Five of our original charter members are still active in the club. Our district is 7810, which includes 28 Rotary clubs in New Brunswick and 12 in the State of Maine.

We are a very energetic club and try to support our community as much as possible.  We have a tent rental business that generates funds for club use, a travel draw that provides our club funds for community projects and a Christmas auction.  In the past we jointly held the Rotary Fund Run with the Newcastle Club that raised well over one million dollars for various medical equipment required by the Miramichi Regional Hospital.  The two Rotary Clubs hosted the Fund Run for 11 years and donated the money to various worth while projects in our community.  The Fund Run has been turned over to the Canadian Cancer Society.

In May the two Rotary Clubs hold the Honors and Awards Night.  We present Paul Harris Fellowships and a Vocational Service Award to a non-Rotarian who exemplifies outstanding qualities in his/her chosen vocation. The recipient, in turn presents an award on behalf of the Rotary Club, to the high school graduate who best emulates those same qualities.
